Frequently Asked Questions

What is a work bond?

The work bond program is a program in which each parent submits an additional fee to the league at registration. The coach for each team will collect the payments and submit these to the FBLL board member. After a predetermined number of volunteering hours have been met, the family is returned this fee. If volunteering hours are not met, the fee is kept by FBLL.

Why does FBLL need a work bond program?

Freehold Boro Little League is a small league that depends on volunteers to operate a smooth and successful season. Other sports clubs across New Jersey have similar work bond programs.

How much is the work bond?

The work bond fee is $150 per family. The work bond checks will be held by the FBLL board and your check will be returned once the 6 volunteer hours are completed. If you do not submit your work bond check your child will not be able to play.

How many hours must I volunteer to have my work bond returned?

Your family is required to complete a total of 6 hours of volunteer service.

How do I sign up for volunteer opportunities?

As soon as volunteer opportunities are available, volunteers will be able to use a link on the FBLL website to sign up for volunteer spots. You can also sign up for volunteer hours with your team’ss coach. After you complete your required 6 hours.

Can I choose not to volunteer?

You may choose not to volunteer and forfeit your work bond payment.

What types of volunteer opportunities will be available?

There will be many ways in which parents can volunteer their time. Parents have the opportunity to help team coaches set up the field, clean up the field after a game, and even help at the snack stand.  We are hoping that everyone will assist the league with their time.
