Our History
Freehold Borough Little League was established during the baseball boom post World War II. It was one of the first teams in New Jersey to join the Little League, established in 1939.
The first inaugural game was played in the Spring of 1951. In its inception, Freehold Borough welcomed players from neighboring towns such as Freehold Township, Colts Neck, and others.
Baseball was a major part of the community. Parents and families helped build Parker Field, one of the original town fields. Over the years, Freehold Borough Little League has had hundreds of alumni including former minor league player James “Leon” Mavronleon and Bruce Springsteen.
In 2003, Freehold Boro Little League new Community Park on Otterson Road.
Today
Since that first game played over 70 years ago, Freehold Boro Little League continues to instill the values of Community, Fun, Inclusion, Integrity, and Team while following its motto of “Play hard, have fun and remember it’s only a game.”
As the Boro Little League approaches its 74th season, members of the league include youths ranging from ages 4 through 16. The Community Park on Otterson Road is the home of Freehold Borough Little League.
The league's continued success is a direct result of the perseverance and dedication of the board members, coaches, parents, volunteers, children, family and community sponsors.
